Hail Damage
Hail damage is not always obvious to the untrained eye. It can cause indentations in the asphalt shingles that damages the shingles substrate and causes the granules to fall off leaving the asphalt layer exposed to the elements. Depending on the size of the hail, granules may be knocked off or the hail can puncture through the shingle. In either circumstance the roof has been compromised and the manufacturer warranty will become voided. No one can warranty acts caused by Mother Nature.
Wind Damage
Wind damage is sometimes overlooked unless there are shingles missing that have been blown off. The shingles that did not blow off are usually cracked where the wind bent the shingles up creating a point for water to enter or granules to be missing. The wind also causes the shingles to become unsealed and in many cases the debris laid by the winds will cause the shingle to not reseal. Depending on the severity of wind damage sustained you may need a repair or an entire roof.
